Aims, Values & History

More than a school, we’re a family.

At Oakfields Preparatory School, community is at the heart of what we do. We firmly believe that by providing a broad, balanced, and heightened curriculum, our children can truly flourish. Our ever-changing and evolving approach to enrichment activities throughout the school day and the children’s journey across different school phases, helps pupils develop resilience and the capacity to make choices that align with their interests and abilities.

We strive to embody the importance of leadership and empower our children to become role models for future generations through the refinement of our leadership programme. While we are an Essex-based community in the heart of Upminster, our connection to the broader Cognita family extends our reach, allowing us to be part of a globally connected community.

Our History

1988
Oakfields Preparatory School was founded by Mrs. Kerrie Malandreniotis in 1988 as a Day Nursery in Gidea Park.
1993
The age range of the children was then extended to include infants and juniors and the school moved to Harwood Hall, Upminster in 1993.
2007
On our arrival at Harwood Hall only a few classrooms were occupied but we quickly grew into a successful and thriving school. Oakfields became part of the Cognita Group, a leading international schools group in 2007.
2013
Our EYFS provision was refurbished in 2013 and facilitates the essential environment needed to help each child to grow and develop and through playing and exploring they become engaged, curious and willing to try new things.
